RECLINING AND RESTORATIVE POSES
Corpse | Savasana
Rest is an important part of yoga and traditionally each session ends with savasana to fully gain the benefits of the practice.
Sanskrit: Savasana
Drishti: eyes closed
Materials
- Yoga mat
- Folded blankets (optional)
- Bolster (optional)
Instructions
- Sit with your legs extended with hands by your sides.
- Lean back as you slowly recline onto the floor using your arms for support.
- Lie flat on your back.
- Begin to relax. Allow both feet to roll out to the sides and move arms about a foot away from the body, palms facing up. Relax your facial muscles, open your chest as you soften completely into the floor. Completely relax, allow your heart rate to slow down and breathe mindfully.
Notes
Modifications: Place folded blankets under your head as a pillow and you may also place a bolster under the legs for extra comfort.
