Hero | Virasana
Hero is a gentle and soothing pose that provides an alternative to vary your seated positions for meditation and centering. It also helps open the lower back.
Sanskrit: Virasana
Drishti: forward or eyes closed
Counterpose: dandasana, downward facing dog, seated forward bend
Materials
- Yoga mat
- Folded blankets (optional)
Instructions
- Kneel on the floor with thighs parallel and knees hip width apart.
- Bring your bum to the floor and rest your hands on your thighs. Root the sitting bones down and lengthen your back. Keep the ankles by the sides of your hips.
- Stay for 1 to 3 breaths or more.
