If you have furry canine friends, this pose may seem familiar to you. Puppy pose is a backbend that can be challenging at first. To lessen the strain, use a block or bolster for support by placing it under your forehead. Puppy releases tension and stretches your back, arms and shoulders. When you do the second variation in this video, it also stretches the throat and intensifies the backbend.
